Alle Rosen Dieser Welt (3)
Markus is sleeping. His sleep is always deep and undisturbed by dreams – much like a child’s. Maybe because his work is fairly tiresome, or it’s just an ability to tune everything off that is so helpful sometimes.
They don’t see each other often, but every time they meet – it’s the whole night, maybe more, depending on their work obligations and family matters. He’ll never agree on a brief two hours of passion in a motel. No, everything should be proper.
By ‘proper’ he means restaurants, movies and flowers, wine and long nights in bed, continued in the morning. Sensibly romantic without overdoing it – though with Markus it’s hard to refrain. Like this time, and he chuckles thinking that maybe five dozens of roses was a bit too much…
He still feels a taste of
Good, well thought-out courtship is something that he’s always wanted with Markus, and no wonder that sometimes he goes over the line, but who could blame him? It’s Markus. Markus.
Dear Markus… So charming in everything he does, bordering on naiveté sometimes. Even his snarkiness is endearing, and his softness makes everyone around melt.
He loves the man more than he ever did now, when Markus is finally his – and whatever Markus is saying his actions speak louder than words. He has no doubt that the feeling is mutual.
But he still likes to entertain his lover with some amusing stories. Mostly they are about Markus’ brother and his co-worker…
There’s a really fascinating photo in the drawer. Two men at the poolside, half-naked, water dripping off their skin, stand close together, so close they almost look like one being, and the wind is mingling the strands of their hair – blond and raven-black, and the setting sun is reflected in the water.
‘Photoshop’, smirked Markus at first glance.
‘You think?’ He laughed back.
But even Markus, his dear ‘contradict everything’ Markus had to admit in the end that two grown people indeed can be so outrageously careless. He himself knows that the two in this picture are not lovers – from Joachim he knows the story and knows that in 2005 nothing existed between the two, but who will bother with such details when two men one the photo stand so intimately close, and their lips are just shy of touching – perfect, perfect installation for the first kiss.
Just an amusing story he’s shared with the one he loves.
Like the one today, when a small silver pendant fell out of his pocket and Markus picked it up.
‘It’s Jogi’s’, he’s answered the surprised look. Elaborated then when Markus shrugged: ‘He’s lost it once being drunk’.
The letters, two J’s, Markus found himself.
Just one more curious story about his brother and brother’s lover.
